How do these covers hold up to a storm?

Touchless Cover® has been in business in Central Florida for over 25 years. To this day, you can still find original covers that were installed over 20 years ago that are holding strong. Many of these covers have weathered very strong storms over the years.

While our warranty does not cover or guarantee protection against storm damage, the Touchless Cover® is highly resilient against the elements. Its performance and data consistently demonstrate its durability.

Preparing for a storm:
We cannot guarantee there will be no damage to your cover or personal property caused by Mother Nature but we have a few tips that have been successful in past storms.
Preparing your boat:
In the case of a major storm and If you have adequate warning- it is advised to remove your boat to minimize any storm damage.
If you decide to leave the boat on a lift, leave your plug in. Raise your lift to the highest position to get it as high as possible without hitting anything overhead. This will help avoid the waves from picking up the boat and slamming it down on the lift during the storm.
Add a few mooring lines to the boat in case it comes off the lift.
Tie the cradle horizontally to prevent it from rocking in the wind or waves.
In preparing your Touchless Cover®, you have 3 options.

Option 1: Complete Removal of Fabric.
This will ensure minimal damage to the Touchless Cover® during a direct hit from a storm.       Watch how to remove the fabric here.

Option 2: Lower and shrinkwrap your fabric.
If you choose not to take the fabric down, try the following:   Unzip the entire side fabric. The fabric will fall and collect on the lower frame. Shrink wrap the entire lower frame creating a tube of compressed fabric wrapped in plastic. Press the UP button and bring the side fabric tube up to the upper frame. Use straps, minimum 6-–3 on each side, to strap the side fabric tube and lower frame to the upper frame.

Option 3: Strap or tie down your cover.
If your cover fabric is left on, place your cover in the down position and un-velcro all 6 locations in the lower frame pocket of the side fabric. Install high winds tie down kit (available from your local dealer) or 6 straps (3 on each side) around the lower frame. Strap the lower frame and fabric to the dock.

Please be advised:   If the cover fabric remains in the UP position during a storm and the side fabric is not shrink wrapped in a tube or strapped to the upper frame, the pleats of the fabric could fill with water and cause the sides of the cover to be damaged or collapse from the weight of pooling water.   Remember to remove all furniture and loose items from your dock.
